Anjali Patel Mehta
Former Investment Banker at Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank and mother of two, Anjali Patel Mehta began her creative journey in 2012, when she founded her ready-to-wear label, Verandah, while on a career break. With a degree in economics from Wellesley College and an MBA in finance and marketing from the Indian School of Business, Anjali had no formal fashion training. Her passion for art, design and bohemia started at a young age and stemmed from her mother who was a founding student of art at the Cholamandal Artists Village in the South of India and encouraged her to design, read, think simply, freely and with a strong sense of originality— which continues to influence her aesthetic.
Having worked between New York and Mumbai, a keen traveler, sport and beach lover, Anjali’s interest in fashion grew organically, always looking for chic, comfortable separates that were easy to work, travel and cruise from a.m. to p.m.
A global gypsy at heart, leaving the business wardrobe aside allowed her to experiment with functional boho luxe resort wear. Design inspirations from her travels and art weave their way into every luxurious, hand crafted collection from Verandah, that celebrates an infinite lust for adventure.
Sustainability and giving back to the community is what drives Anjali to create innovative products and collaborate with organizations that work towards a better future. She has been recently appointed as a board member for Tiger Watch, and has been successfully working with local communities to upcycle Verandah’s scraps of waste into products.
